Tech for Dreaming: Unlocking Lucid Dreaming for All

Lucid dreaming has profound potential, but it is difficult to access. Through the application of technology and community collaboration, we believe lucid dreaming will become accessible to all.

Historically, people have used cognitive techniques to better access lucid dreaming, including dream journaling, daytime reality checks, and mindfulness practices. These techniques build a stable foundation for lucid dreaming and lucid living, but only work consistently for a subset of people and require habit formation.

Attempting to make lucid dreaming more accessible with technology is not a new effort, but we now have technology that has the potential to deliver on the promise of on-demand lucid dreaming for all. Success will require the focused collaboration of many dreamers across disciplines—from neuroscience to engineering to design.

We focus on making lucid dreaming more accessible using:

  • Devices with sensors to characterize physiology and stimulation modalities to effectively, safely induce stable lucid dreaming
  • Supplements to safely prime our minds and bodies to access lucid dreaming

To focus on technology, we do not focus on topics that are already covered in general lucid dreaming communities such as cognitive techniques, mystical experiences (e.g. astral projection, OBEs), and the sharing of lucid dreaming stories.

To stimulate progress, we openly share our projects, insights, and research focused on applying tech for dreaming. We collaborate across disciplines. We prioritize scientific evidence over anecdotal examples and empty marketing hype. We invite a healthy mix of openness and skepticism.

“Too much openness and you accept every notion, idea, and hypothesis — which is tantamount to knowing nothing. Too much skepticism — especially rejection of new ideas before they are adequately tested — and you’re not only unpleasantly grumpy, but also closed to the advance of science. A judicious mix is what we need.” — Carl Sagan

Once lucid dreaming is more accessible, we will engage in groundbreaking experiments and explorations. New possibilities will emerge in consciousness research, mental health enhancement, and beyond. What we find may fundamentally alter our understanding of ourselves and the very nature of reality. Join us!
